8 Efficient Ways To Reduce Stress – Tips & Tricks


Some people stress about everything, and I was one of them. Whether it was a small test or an event or anything else, I had to experience a lot of stress oftentimes. I used to search for ways to reduce stress.

Practiced some of the best tips with consistency, which I thought would work for me, and now things are better.
I am sharing those tips with you people that either I tried or that worked for me.

Stress is not necessarily a bad thing. It can help you to meet deadlines or daily challenges, or it can motivate you to achieve your goals. Long term stress or too much stress is a bad thing and has a bad effect on your mental and physical health.

Here are some ways to reduce stress and make your life a little easier for you;

 

1) Visualization

The brain is the most powerful organ in the human body. We stress due to negative thoughts. If you want to reduce your stress, start visualizing positive scenarios to keep yourself calm. This will transmit positive signals to your brain, and your stress will relieve.

Imagine yourself in a relaxing place, be it a beach or any other place which gives you a peaceful feeling. Think about the things that you are grateful for or that make you happy. You will soon observe the reduction in your stress.

 

2) Talk To Yourself

For me, this is the most effective stress management technique. I remember once I had a test, and I tried my best to perform well, but somehow, I could not.
Sometimes it is not your day. Everything went bad that day. I spent more than an hour, just sitting on the couch thinking about everything that happened.
After an hour, I stood up, closed the door, looked into the mirror, and started talking to myself. I discussed everything with me. In the end, I told myself,

“IT IS OKAY. IT WAS JUST A TEST. I STILL HAVE CHANCES TO DO BETTER. WHAT’S DONE IS DONE. RELAX. YOU TRIED AND DID WHAT YOU COULD. IT WAS NOT YOUR DAY. FORGET EVERYTHING AND FOCUS ON WHAT’S COMING NEXT”.

 

3) TAKE DEEP BREATHS

When we stress, we take the pressure. Deep breathing helps to release the pressure. When you feel stressed, isolate yourself, sit in a comfortable position, close your eyes, and slowly take deep breaths for 5 to 10 minutes. It is the simplest way to reduce stress.

 

4) TAKE HELP FROM RELAXATION TECHNIQUES

There are many tried and tested relaxation techniques, and you may take help from them. One very simple technique is to choose a word or phrase that has a positive meaning and focus on it when you feel tense.
For instance, words such as PEACE, LOVE, CALM, RELAX. If you feel your mind has wandered, concentrate on the chosen word. Repeat it if you feel stressed later too.

 

5) SLEEP WELL

Unfortunately, stress interrupts our sleep due to the thoughts that keep whirling around our heads, but your stress can be reduced if you sleep well. When you don’t get enough sleep, you wake up feeling more stressed, which makes it harder for you to sleep the next night. Sleeping will help your mind to calm down, and ultimately you will feel better.

 

6) LEARN “IT IS OKAY TO SAY NO”

You will be surprised to know that the most common cause of stress is taking up more work to do in less time. Do You know why it happens? People take additional responsibilities because many of us find it difficult to say NO.
Is it a good idea to take more work or responsibilities than you can manage just to please people or just to be liked by everyone and later on you stress about it?
Never compromise on your mental or physical health for the sake of anyone. Say NO when you are already committed or when you have engagements.

 

7) EXERCISE

Working out regularly is good for your physical as well as mental health. It keeps you healthy, and it’s an effective way to relax your mind and body. Moreover, it diverts your mind from negative thoughts that make you feel unhappy and stressed.

 

8) LAUGHTER THERAPY

Laughter is the best natural remedy for stress management. A good laugh makes you feel relaxed. It provides support to your mind and relieves stress by relaxing your muscles.
You may hang out with your friends who make you laugh, or you can try watching a funny movie or any other thing that can distract you from all the negativity.

 

Life is not a bed of roses, today you are up, the other day you will be down. Don’t let your stress stop you from enjoying every bit of your life.

Try these stress management techniques to reduce your stress. Workout regularly, spend time with friends who care for you.

Talk about your problems, don’t keep things inside. Practice saying NO when it is needed.
You can also keep a stress diary to make a record of what stresses you out oftentimes.

I know things will be difficult in the beginning, but once you get good at it, you will get the desired results.
